Trips to Mexico weren’t really about the journey…

We could skip the memories of the long drives squeezed in the back seat down a seemingly endless road leading a constant motion sickness.

The trips to visit Tios Tias and long lost cousins were always romanticized by our curiosity with the local fishing towns. The warm beating sun, the smell of the port welcoming the days trade and the constant aroma of local eateries filling the streets.

As with many puertos, you’ll find these little spots along the way where the local fisherman turn their daily catch into ceviche and other offerings. A simple menu of 3-5 items, it was a pit stop for food and a chance to stretch our legs.

Playita aims to deliver that same feeling as you sit in traffic driving along Sunset Blvd making your way West.

From the same family that brought you homey stews on handmade tortillas recreating the memories of our home, Playita is a memory of our family trips to the beach.

Located along the Sunset Boulevard heading north towards Silverlake, we’re open 7 days a week with ample parking and outdoor seating. So come by, stretch your legs and fill your belly.
